Your First Date With Your Ukrainian Lady

Spending a romantic time with someone special always leaves one in thrilled anticipation. The excitement is magnified twice as much in international dating where one meets a person from a foreign country. There is a Ukrainian saying that people determine what kind of a person you are by how you look and how you act, then at last they will be able to value you for your intellect. In short, first impressions matter a lot and having a working knowledge of the ways of Ukrainian dating will help you create a good first impression.

A lot of modern women, especially from Europe and the United States already shun the traditional dating practices. Ukrainian women, however are steadfast in keeping their dating traditions. Although Ukrainian ladies have largely become independent and financially capable, they still expect men to pursue and flatter them with their sweet and romantic ways. It would be helpful for you to know and understand a number of important Ukrainian dating courtesy practices.

Your full understanding of the Ukrainian dating courtesytraditions will go well together with the expectations of your fiancé and will get your relationship off to a good start. For instance, you have invited your lady to a dinner date in a great restaurant. You will have to pick her up or if she prefers it, meet up with you in your hotel. Then you will go together to the restaurant. Of course, you are expected to cover all the expenses including transportation costs, whichever she chooses to take, the bus or a cab.

Indeed, you will soon know that paying for everything while you are on a date is one of the foremost Ukrainian dating courtesy practice. Take to heart the saying: you pray, I pay. This will help you remember what is expected of you. This practice should not diminish your regard for your fiancé, as this is not done because they are impoverished or avaricious, but rather this is the tradition they hold. If a man is gallant enough to court a lady, then his gallantry should extend to providing for all the cost relating to their date.

Next, she would always expect you to show your courtesy by opening up doors for her, by letting her enter facilities first or by offering her a hand when she goes out of a cab or public transportation. At the restaurant she would expect you to help her get seated by moving her chair, etc. All such things are essential for Ukrainian dating courtesy traditions, because even though Ukrainian ladies are considered to be smart and independent, they still like to be very feminine and with great pleasure receive all such male courtship.

As I have pointed out earlier, it is expected of the man to pay for all consequent expenses on the date like costs at the restaurant, cinema or theater tickets, cab and bus, fare. A small gift as a token of the time she spent with you will also be proper. The kind and value of the gift would largely depend on the importance of the occasion you are celebrating. Flowers or chocolates and candies will be sufficient for a regular date.

There are some things you should also know about the Ukrainian beliefs about flowers. Bouquet of flowers for your fiancé should always come in odd numbers. Flower arrangements with even numbers are for the dead!

Furthermore, in Ukraine, yellow symbolizes goodbyes. If you give yellow flowers to a superstitious lady, she might take this as an omen that the relationship will not prosper. So unless it is your lady love's favorite color, then leave yellow flowers alone.
